The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly known as the United Kingdom, the UK or Britain
is a political union comprising of four constituent countries; England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The UK was the world's foremost power during the 19th and early 20th century but the economic cost of the world wars and the decline of its empire in the latter half of the 20th century diminished its leading role in global affairs.
The UK nevertheless retains its economic, cultural, military and political influence. It holds a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council, and is a member of the G8, NATO, the European Nation and the Common wealth of
Nation and has an economy that is 5th largest in the world and 2nd largest in Europe.

Employment in UK
From May 1 2006 onwards, all international students on completion of a postgraduate degree, or an undergraduate degree in a shortage sector, may be allowed to work in the UK for up to 12 months.
All International students while studying are entitled to work in the UK, provided the course duration is more than six months. Students can work for up to 20 hours a week (part time) during their study period and full-time during the vacations.
Health and Welfare
Students from outside UK attending a program lasting longer than six months may be entitled to free care from the National Health Services (NHS) for any medical condition that arises during their stay in the UK. However a standard charge is made for any medical prescribed.
Bank Account
All International students would need to open a bank account in the UK. To open an account, confirmation of enrolment as a student from the concerned college or university, and the student card is required.
